Battery lead engineer (M/F)
Job Description
As a Battery Development Technical Leader, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Independently lead HV and LV battery design projects;
- Coordinate and oversee CAD activities for HV and LV battery development;
- Ensure the quality of CAD deliverables: HV and LV battery design rules, model positioning, quality checks, etc.;
- Write and maintain a design guide throughout the project;
- Read and analyze the technical specifications of components;
- Participate in the 2D/3D design of components and assemblies;
- Participate in the 2D/3D design of assembly plans (if necessary).
Versatility
To successfully carry out these tasks, the candidate must demonstrate versatility through broad technical knowledge in battery-related aspects.
Thus, they will also be required to:
- Integrate thermal and mechanical aspects into battery design;
- Collaborate with teams on battery management systems (BMS) and control strategies;
- Supervise and coordinate battery pack testing and validation (cycling, abuse, vibration, aging, safety);
- Monitor advanced manufacturing processes and battery industrialization;
- Optimize battery performance and lifespan according to specific applications;
- Conduct technological monitoring of innovations in the battery field;
- Contribute to defining energy storage architectures and their integration into global systems;
- Collaborate with other departments to improve energy efficiency and system safety.
Candidate Profile
To successfully fulfill these tasks, the candidate should have:
- A Bac +2/3 degree (BTS/license) or an engineering school background in the automotive industry;
- Experience in industrial and mechanical design;
- At least 4 years of experience in LV and HV battery design.
Technical Skills
To perform these tasks successfully, the candidate must have the following technical skills:
- A deep understanding of battery operation at the cell/module/pack level;
- Knowledge of CAD software: Catia, SolidWorks;
- Proficiency in traditional office tools: Microsoft Office, planning tools.
Industry Skills
To effectively carry out the role, the candidate must have the following industry-related skills:
- Knowledge of battery validation tests (safety, performance, aging);
- Expertise in battery thermal management and heat exchange handling;
- Experience with advanced energy storage materials and technologies;
- Understanding of battery regulations and energy storage system standards.
Required Aptitudes
To successfully perform these tasks, the candidate must:
- Have strong interpersonal skills;
- Be highly autonomous in project execution;
- Be proactive in proposing technical solutions;
- Be open to international work: fluency in English is required;
- Engage in teamwork and foster interdepartmental collaboration;
- Have an analytical mindset and problem-solving ability;
- Be able to simplify technical concepts for a non-expert audience.
